When you walk into a room where the Houndstooth Trio is performing there’s a strange kind of anticipation in the air. When legendary Cal Batchelor plays guitar he’s flanked by two musicians who are, it’s clear, going to keep him on his game. They are bassist Michael Taylor and drummer Hal Schrenk, and they have done a good amount of heavy lifting along some major musical talents. As soon as the set begins, you are submersed in a deep groove-blues sea of rhythm and melody.
